Biography

EVENT: Cycling –Men's Road Race

Shane Archbold came out of the strong South Canterbury cycling scene, initially impressing on the track where he won a silver at the world championships in the omnium in 2011. He won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the scratch race, and played a lead role in Tom Scully’s gold medal in the points race. He moved to the road with An Post in 2013, moving to Pro Continental team Bora-Argon in 2015 which morphed into the World Tour BORA-Hansgrohe in 2018. After two years in Continental, BORA-Hansgrphe re-signed him in 2019, moving to the crack Deceunick-Quick Step in 2020 and back to BORA-Hansgrohe this year.

While Archbold is a fast and clever lead-our rider, he showed his skills at home to win the national road title in Cambridge in 2020.
