Biography

In 2008 Carl Williams will add an appearance at the Olympic Games to his already illustrious sailing career. Williams is the son of Penny Whiting, one of the most recognisable faces on the Auckland yachting scene, and was on the water in the family keelboat before he could crawl.

Between 1995 and 1998 Williams was part of the elite Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s youth training scheme from where he was spotted and chosen for Team New Zealand’s 2003 Americas Cup defence. Subsequently he was head hunted by the Oracle Americas Cup challenge becoming a crucial member of the team for the 2007 challenge.
