Christy is a snowboard slopestyle and big air specialist. In 2014 Christy was selected to the New Zealand Olympic Winter team for the Sochi Olympic Winter Games but an injury sustained during training just hours before the event put her out of competition.
Prior was quick to bounce back and charged through the 2015 northern hemisphere season, taking on the world’s best female snowboarders and claiming podium finishes at top level international events. She earned bronze medals at the Dew Tour and X Games before clocking one of the best results of her career to date, winning the Burton European Open ahead of the 2014 Olympic gold and silver medallists.
The 2015/16 season saw Christy once again back on top form with a silver medal at the European Open, 5th place in Slopestyle at X Games Aspen and second placing in Big Air at X Games.
Christy started off the 2016 northern hemisphere season with a silver in slopestyle at the Laax Open in Switzerland in January. After a fifth place finish in slopestyle at X Games Aspen, she went on to earn silver in Big Air at X Games Oslo in February. In March 2017 she claimed World Cup bronze in PyeongChang, Korea at the test event for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and finished up with fifth place in slopestyle at the world cup held in Park City, USA.
Christy was named Snow Sports NZ Snowboarder of the Year in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
