Emma Robinson was born in Wellington and studied at Victoria University. The Capital Swim Club member was looking forward to her first Olympic Games in Rio 2016.

In 2013 she competed in her first Open Water World Championships in Spain in the women's 10km event and in the same year qualified for the FINA World Championships in Barcelona.
