New Zealand Olympian: 516
An Olympic gold medallist in the coxless four at Los Angeles in 1984.
Trask was named in the New Zealand coxed four team for the 1980 Olympics, but
never rowed at Moscow because of the American-led boycott. He won a world
championship title in the New Zealand coxed four at Duisburg in 1983.
Trask was a member of the strong North Shore club and won a national
coxless pairs title with Eric Verdonk in 1986.
Trask grew up in Hawke’s Bay and was a very promising rugby player who
gained national selection in representative age teams. He now owns his own
building business in Auckland and has remained involved in rowing, coaching at
Westlake Boys High School and, until recently, with the North Shore Rowing
Club. He is married to Serena. They have two daughters and a son.
