Biography


Te Puke's Rebecca 'Possum' Torr began competing in snowboard slopestyle in 2010. She has enjoyed a rapid rise up the elite ranks and in 2011 was named the Ball Park Rookie of the Year for the 2010-11 Winter Dew Tour season. This award is presented to the highest ranked athlete across men’s and women’s snowboard and freeski, halfpipe and slopestyle, competing in their first Winter Dew Tour.

Rebecca also pulled out some excellent results at the 2011-2012 Dew Tour where she placed fourth at the Breckenridge stop and fourth overall on the tour. She is proud to have placed third in slopestyle at the 100% Pure NZ Winter Games in 2011 and to have attended two X Games; the European X Games in 2011 and the US X Games in 2012.

Rebecca is currently ranked 16th in the world in women’s snowboard slopestyle. Rebecca sees snowboarding as her passion, hobby, job and opportunity to see the world. She says she is blessed to be living the dream. Competing at the Winter Olympic Games will be a humbling experience for Rebecca and she is proud to be representing her country. In her free time

Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family, playing guitar and making music, being out on and in the ocean and anything outdoors!
