Reg Douglas is currently New Zealand’s oldest living Olympian. Born in Auckland in 1930, and later moving to Wanganui where he quickly became one of New Zealand’s top rowers in the Coxless Pair and Double Scull with teammate Bob Parker.
Selected for the Vancouver 1954 Commonwealth Games, the pair of Reg and Bob won the Gold medal in the Coxless Pair and took the Silver in the Double Skull.
Two years on, this team competed at the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games, placing 3rd in their semi-final of the Coxless pair to finish the event in 5th place.
In 1958, Reg again partnered with Bob to compete at the Cardiff 1958 Commonwealth Games and again took home the Gold medal.
