Biography

EVENT: Rugby Sevens – Women

Ruby Tui is an Olympic gold and silver medallist, having won gold with the New Zealand women’s sevens team at Tokyo 2020 and silver at Rio 2016.

Tui has been a regular fixture in the New Zealand women's sevens team since being discovered in the Go4Gold campaign in 2012. Her dogged defence and turn of pace are key attributes of her game.

She was a member of the team which won a Rugby World Cup Sevens title in 2018. She was named New Zealand women's sevens Player of the Year in 2017 and World Rugby Sevens player of the Year in 2019.

Off the field Tui is a regular contributor in the SKY TV commentary booth and is a passionate advocate for mental health, as an ambassador for the New Zealand Rugby HeadFirst initiative.
