Ben Collier

Born in Wanganui and bred in Taranaki and now playing for North Harbour in the NZ National Hockey League, Collier has quickly become a regular selection in the Black Sticks with his solid and creative midfield work. Still only 23 Ben has amassed over 60 test matches of which the win against Argentina in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament rates as his most memorable. Ben says his strength is his left to right, while he admits he needs to work on his upright reverse. He trains for 15 hours a week and rates Australia as his toughest opponent and has an interest in multisport when not concentrating on hockey. He debuted for NZ in 2005.
