Biography

EVENTS: Canoe Sprint: Women's K2 500m and Women's K4 500m

Alicia Hoskin is a two-time Olympic champion, having won gold in the K2 and K4 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Racing first in the K4, Hoskin teamed up with Dame Lisa Carrington, Tara Vaughan and Olivia Brett in the blue riband event.

New Zealand led at halfway but Germany stormed to the front and it was race on. New Zealand responded well and nosed ahead over the last 60 metres.

New Zealand won in 1min 32.20s, Germany were second in 1min 32.62s and Hungary were third in 1min 32.93s.

It was the second major win for the quartet who also claimed the World Championship title in the boat in 2023.

The following day Hoskin was back in the water, contesting the K2 final alongside crewmate Dame Lisa Carrington. The pair were incredibly dominant, finishing more than a boat length ahead of the rest of the field to win gold again.

Hoskin also competed at Tokyo 2020 in the K4 and K2.

Born and raised in Gisborne Hoskin made her competitive kayaking debut at the AIMS Games, where she went on to win the multisport title (kayaking, mountain biking and running).
