Biography
James Irvine of Waikato represented New Zealand in the 50m free pistol event at the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games.
Irvine placed 12th with a total of 522. The winner of the event was Canadian Jules Sobrian, on a countback from Australian Norm Harrison, after both scored 549. Irvine began disastrously with an opening 82 and thereafter was playing catch-up. There were 19 shooters in the field.
