Olivia Brett won gold in the women’s K4 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Racing in the K4, Brett teamed up with Dame Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin and Tara Vaughan in the blue riband event.
New Zealand led at halfway but Germany stormed to the front and it was race on. New Zealand responded well and nosed ahead over the last 60 metres.
New Zealand won in 1min 32.20s, Germany were second in 1min 32.62s and Hungary were third in 1min 32.93s.
It was the second major win for the quartet who also claimed the World Championship title in the boat in 2023.
Brett was born and raised in Christchurch before moving to Auckland in 2021. She is coached by Gordon Walker with the assistance of Chris Mehak.
A passion for Brett outside of kayaking is special education and trying to raise awareness around neurodivergent minds. She also loves to read and spend time with her family and friends.
