New Zealand Olympian: 1582
EVENT: Men’s Four
Ollie Maclean is an Olympic silver medallist, having won the medal as a member of the men’s coxless four at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Maclean and crewmates Logan Ullrich, Tom Murray and Matt Macdonald were locked in a tight battle with the US during the final.
The US were slightly ahead on the final leg, and just as the Kiwis were creeping up, the States found another gear to claim gold for the first time in the men's fours since 1960, while the Kiwis crossed in second for silver and Great Britain bagged the bronze.
Maclean began rowing at King’s College in Auckland before moving to the United States where he rowed for University of California, Berkeley.
He won back-to-back Intercollegiate Rowing Association 1V Eight titles and was a Pac-12 Rower of the Year two years running.
He represented New Zealand at the 2016 Junior World Championships, where he finished fifth in the Men’s Quadruple Sculls. He won gold in the quad at the Under 23 Worlds a year later.
Maclean was in the Men’s Four that won bronze at the 2023 World Championships in Serbia.
