Biography

EVENT: Women’s T20 Cricket 

Suzie Bates is an Olympian and Commonwealth Games athlete, having represented her country at Birmingham 2022 (T20 cricket) and Beijing 2008 (basketball).

A New Zealand cricketer since 2006, Suzie Bates is renowned as one of the top players in the world and was crowned the ICC ODI and T20l Player of the Year for 2016.

Bates was the New Zealand cricket captain for almost seven years before stepping down from the role in 2018. During her time in charge she lead the team to multiple finals in ICC tournaments.

A proud Dunedin local, in 2015 Bates was named by Wisden as the leading female cricketer in the world.

Bates won a bronze medal a member of the New Zealand Cricket Team at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
