Tamati is a versatile player who can play at first five-eighths, in the midfield or at fullback. 2005 was a big year for the Wellington player – he made his New Zealand Sevens debut at the New Zealand International Sevens and went on to play at the IRB Sevens Rugby World Cup in Hong Kong. He played 12 games for Wellington in the National Provincial Championship.
