Biography

EVENT: Canoe Sprint - Women's K4

Tara Vaughan won gold in the women’s K4 at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Racing in the K4, Vaughan teamed up with Dame Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin and Olivia Brett in the blue riband event.

New Zealand led at halfway but Germany stormed to the front and it was race on. New Zealand responded well and nosed ahead over the last 60 metres.

New Zealand won in 1min 32.20s, Germany were second in 1min 32.62s and Hungary were third in 1min 32.93s.

It was the second major win for the quartet who also claimed the World Championship title in the boat in 2023.

Vaughan was born in Wellington and grew up on Auckland’s North Shore which she still calls home.
