Valerie Adams continued her winning way in New York this morning at the IAAF Diamond League meeting. The triple world champion opened quietly with 19.13 metres, but improved to 20.07m and then hit 20.60m, her best, in the third round. The throw bettered her own meeting record, set in 2010 by 67 centimetres. Olympic hopefuls Zane Robertson and Hamish Carson came up short of their target in the 1500 metres, Robertson finishing tenth in 3 minutes 38.80 seconds while Carson ran 3 minutes 42.08 seconds. The Olympic qualifying standard is 3 minutes 35 seconds. The race was won by American Bernard Lagat in 3:34.63. The next Diamond League meeting will be in Paris on 6 July.
