Basketballers lose to Australia

The New Zealand team - Aidan Tonge, Josh Book, Te Tuhi Lewis and Christian Martin - began promisingly against the feisty Australians and it was anybody's match when Austrlaia led 8-7 at the midpoint.

Though Book landed some nice shots, the Australians gradually pulled away to secure the win. New Zealand's next match is against Guyana.

Martin said he was pleased with the energy the team brought to the court. 'We began well, but there were a few too many mistakes,' he said. 'They are a good team and we let them shoot too many twos.'
