Beach Volleyball run ends

Ben and Sam O’Dea’s winning run at the beach volleyball came to an end when they lost their semi-final match to Canada yesterday.

The Canadian pair of Sam Pedlow and Sam Schachter were slightly more accomplished, but the dogged New Zealanders never gave up.

In the first set Canada led 20-14, but only sealed the set 20-19. The second wasn’t as close and the Canadians won it 21-15. The match took 40 minutes.

The O’Dea brothers, who won their first four matches at the Games, now play England in the bronze medal.
