The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) has confirmed the boxing athletes who will compete for the New Zealand Team at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in July and August.
Among the selected athletes are boxers with Commonwealth Games experience, alongside a group of younger boxers who have advanced through the national pathway and into senior international competition.
NZOC CEO Nicki Nicol said the team represents the strength of the boxing community and the support behind each athlete’s journey.
“Selection for the Commonwealth Games is a special moment for any athlete. It’s not just about the individual, it’s about the whānau, friends and wider community who have supported them every step of the way,” Nicol said.
“We know how hard this group has worked to get to this point, and we’re proud to see them represent New Zealand on the Commonwealth stage.”
Boxing New Zealand President Josh Wharehinga said the Glasgow team highlights both experience and the next generation progressing through the system.
“There’s real excitement around this team. We’ve got experienced athletes alongside a group of younger boxers who are coming through strongly and gaining valuable international experience,” Wharehinga said.
“The Commonwealth Games are an important part of our pathway. They give athletes the opportunity to test themselves against quality opposition and take the next step in their development.”
