Bruce qualifies well in hammer throw

Bruce managed a full workout during the qualifying round. She recorded throws of 65.18m, 67.32m and 67.70m. Though all were well short of her best, it was encouraging that she improved with each throw.
The qualifying round was headed by Canadian Camryn Rogers, who only managed one legitimate throw but made it count with 68.51m. There were 14 throwers in qualifying, with 12 advancing to the final..
Bruce is a two-time Olympian and was also in Birmingham for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The New Zealander said the atmosphere in the stadium was good and it was a fun outing. She was pleased to settle down and get through with no shoulder problems and to get a feel for the competition.
