Chloe McMillan (Hamilton, 21) and Anja Barugh (Pukehina, 22) have arrived in Beijing ahead of their Winter Olympic debut.
McMillan and Barugh make up the women’s contingent of the New Zealand Freeski Halfpipe team. They have both worked determinedly through the qualification period and are stoked to be here.
“Touching down in Beijing was really exciting, it just solidifies all the hard work I have put in. It makes it feel real being here now and being in the environment is really cool, really exciting.” said McMillan.
Neither of the Kiwi women have skied the halfpipe here at Genting Park but have received feedback from their snowboarding counterparts.
“I am excited to be here at my first Olympics and I can’t wait to get on snow. I haven’t seen the halfpipe, but I have heard from a few of the snowboarders that it is one of the best pipes they ever ridden so I am excited to get in there.” explained Barugh.
McMillan and Barugh will be in action on the 17th of February in the Freeski women’s halfpipe qualification.
