Comfortable win for Campbell
Taupō boxer Connor Campbell looked sharp in scoring a decisive win in his opening bout in the 65kg division.

Campbell was a class above Fijian 20-year-old Ben Maukakala, winning in the second round when the referee stopped the contest. He had already imposed three standing counts on the Fijian, who was taking some heavy punishment.
The New Zealander showed a good range of skills and exceptionally quick hands, repeatedly getting through the Fijian's defences. For an 18-year-old he showed very good composure, picking his moments well.
Campbell was elated with his performance and loved the occasion. 'It was an unreal feeling,' he said. 'Going out there on such a big stage, hearing my name called. My dad and my Poppa are here and I'm so proud. I can't wait to get out there again.'
