Comfortable win for netballers

The netballers readied themselves for sterner tests to come by outclassing a dogged Welsh team.

Coach Noeline Taurua rested key shooter Grace Nweke, but gave all her other squad members good court time. Only shooter Martina Salmon played the full 60 minutes.

Of the New Zealand shooters, Georgia Heffernan was accurate early on with seven goals from eight attempts, but Amelia Walmsley, 28 from 30, and especially Salmon, 30 from 35, did the bulk of the points scoring.

For Wales, both Zoe Matthewson, who never missed a shot from goal attack, and Georgia Rowe, 18 from 19, coped well with the New Zealand defenders, but Wales' problem was that they didn't manufacture enough shots - New Zealand had 73 goal attempots, Wales 41.
