Lizzie Roussel struggled to make an impression in the women’s 3-metre springboard diving competition today.

The 26-year-old New Zealander finished 26th in a field of 28 in the preliminary section. Only the top 18 divers advanced to the semi-finals.

Roussel, who also competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics, totalled 233.70. The leader after the preliminary section was China’s Yiwen Chen with 356.40.

Roussel’s best dives were a back 2½ somersault that earned her 55.50 and a reverse 2½ somersault that was awarded a score of 54.00.
