Hamilton athlete Stuart Farquhar finished ninth in the Olympic javelin final today.
Farquhar, who was very impressive in the qualifying round when he threw 82.32m, struggled for his best form in the final. He had a sequence of 76.80m, 76.64m and 80.22m.
Because he missed out on the top eight, he did not qualify for a further three throws. There were 12 finalists.
The javelin gold medal went to Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad with 84.58m, ahead of Oleksandr Pyatnytsya of Ukraine and Antii Ruuskanen of Finland.
