New Zealand will be represented by five athletes from three sports at the Beijing 2022 Opening Ceremony.
Biathlete Campbell Wright and freeskiers Ben Barclay and Margaux Hackett will be joined by flagbearers Finn Bilous (freeski) and Alice Robinson (alpine).
Wright says he’s looking forward to his first Opening Ceremony.
“I’m pretty pumped for the Opening Ceremony, it’s pretty special to get the opportunity to march,” said Wright.
“It’s going to be an awesome way to kick off my first Winter Olympics and then I’m into competition from the 8th.”
For Barclay, the ceremony will be extra special as today is his 20th birthday.
The Opening Ceremony is expected to be an amazing celebration of sport, unity and Chinese culture. It will be held at the 'Birdsnest' Stadium, the iconic venue from the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The Ceremony will be screened on Sky TV.
