Ryan Fox slipped down the men’s golf leaderboard today after a two over par second round of 73.
The 37-year-old Aucklander began the tournament in fine fashion yesterday with a 67, but today Fox struggled on the outward nine, shooting two bogeys and a double bogey on the ninth. To his credit he regrouped on the homeward nine with birdies on 10 and 16.
After two rounds, Fox is on 2 under par 140 and in a tie for 30th position.
The other New Zealand golfer in the field, Wellingtonian Daniel Hiller, had a slightly better day today, but was unable to find any consistency.
After battling to an opening day 75 on his Olympic debut, Hillier, 25, shot an extraordinary 73, which included 3 double bogeys, 2 bogeys, 4 birdies and an eagle. It was like a magical mystical tour!
The result was that Hillier is now on 148, six over par and in 59th position.
