Gymnasts into all around final

Paris Chin and Havana Hopman gave a good account of themselves when the rhythmic gymnastics competition opened and both qualified for the all-round final.

Hopman was placed 16th in the all-round category after the first day of the rhythmic gymnastics, and Chin 17th.

The top 16 qualify for the all-round finals, but only two from each country, which allowed Chin to slip in as well.

In addition, Hopman grabbed the eighth and final qualifying position for the clubs final – in the individual apparatus only the top eight qualify.

The New Zealanders’ placings after the qualifying events:

Ball: Chin 16th (25.600), Hopman 20th (23.400)

Clubs: Hopman 8th (27.000), Chin 12th (26.500)

Ribbon: Hopman 12th (25.250), Chin 14th (24.400)

Hoop: Hopman 11th (26.200), Chin 18th (24.400)

All round: Hopman 16th (101.850), Chin 17th (100.900).
