Henderson bows out in boxing quarter-final

Henderson, who only came to boxing late in her sports career, gave a good account of herself against Arundhati Choudhary of India, who is ranked No 2 in the world.

The first round was close, with the New Zealander willing to mix it with her big-name opponent. Two of the five judges gave the first round to Henderson.

Choudhary stepped up the pace in the second round, and imposed a standing count on Henderson. Even so, it was not a one-sided fight and Henderson landed enough blows to win the round on one judge's card.

It was the same story in the third round, where Choudhary won the verdict from three judges.

The scoring was interesting. One judge gave it to Henderson 29-27, another had the fight as a draw, and the other three voted for the Indian 30-26.

Henderson, 38, showed good technique, a positive attitude and an eagerness to move forward - it was a strong performance overall against quality opposition.
