Shotputter Tom Walsh and pole vaulter Nick Southgate claimed the top honours at the Christchurch Street Athletics Festival despite both being under the weather.
Walsh, the hometown hero of the event, threw a solid 21.05m for his win in front of a packed crowd in the central city.
“These Street Comps are always fun, it’s brilliant to get people to so close to the action and I really enjoyed being back in Christchurch.
“Unfortunately I had a bit of a tummy bug yesterday but I was pleased with my throws tonight and it was good to notch up some solid ones.”
24-year-old pole vaulter Nick Southgate jumped a seasons best of 5.26m for his win.
“I’ve been battling an illness for the past week so it was hard on the fitness but it was fantastic to jump in front of such a great crowd.
“I’m really happy with my run up’s going at the moment and that sets me up to go high so I’m feeling in good form.”
The Street Athletics Festival was run as a prelude to the Track and Field National Champs which begin on March 8th in Christchurch.
