Harrington will compete in the Slopestyle and Big Air competitions starting on February 7 (NZT) and said he’s been waiting for this moment for a while.
“It’s crazy to be here, I’ve been waiting for so long to get to the Games and to compete with my brother Ben, it’s extremely special,” he said
“To have four years of work come to its peak feels good. Also to have my parents here too is awesome as they don’t usually get to come and watch.”
Harrington is also loving being part of the NZ Team, something unique to the Olympic experience.
“We don’t always get to wear a team uniform, so to wear the fern, with my fellow team mates is such an honour. To know New Zealanders are backing us, supporting and tuning in means the world - we feel that warmth.”
“I just wanted to say the welcome haka meant so much to me as well. It was really touching, it meant a great deal and gave me that feeling that we’ve finally made it to the Olympics.”
