Mixed results for para bowlers
New Zealand teams had a win and a loss on the opening day of para bowls competition.

The New Zealand men's para B6-B8 pair, Kurt Smith and Mark Noble, casme out on the wrong side of a rather bizzare match against Australia.
Smith and Noble trailed 5-0 in the first set then reeled off six straight points to snatch it on the final end. Scores reached 2-2 in a very tight second set. One more point on what was the last end of the set would have given the New Zealanders the match. Instead they lost the second set 3-2 and Australia then won the tiebreaker.
The New Zealand women's para B6-B8 pair had no such probems with the Australians. Julie O'Connell and Teri Blackbourn were never too hard pressed and won 7-1, 6-3.
