New Zealand’s three swimmers in action today were not able to find the form they were looking for. None of the trio were able to make any progress in their events.
Lewis Clareburt was looking to finish in the top 16 among the 200m butterfly swimmers, but his time of 1min 57.12s placed him 7th in his heat, and was only good enough for 21st overall.
Cameron Gray joined 78 other swimmers in seeking a spot in the 100m freestyle semi-finals. Gray finished sixth in his heat in 49.24s, and overall was 31st.
Eve Thomas sought a berth in the 1500m final. There were three heats today and in her heat Thomas’s time of 16min 13.74s placed her 7th. Unfortunately, the following heat was the quickest and Thomas was pushed into 12th place overall and did not qualify for the final.
