Olivier fourth in triple jump
A hamstring twinge may have cost New Zealand triple jumper Ethan Olivier a medal.

South Africa-based Olivier was holding third place in the triple jump when he hurt his hamstring during his third round jump.
Olivier, 20, opened with 16.11m, then improved to 16.50m on his second jump. His next jump was a foul and he didn' take his last three attempts.
Jamaican Jordan Scott was the best triple jumper in the field and won with a distance of 16.72m. But Olivier, the world junior champion in 2024, looked as if he might hold on to third place until Indian Selva Thirumaran popped up with a 16.52m effort in the fifth round. It was frustrating for Olivier that he wasn't able to respond.
Olivier holds dual South African and New Zealand citizenship.
