New Zealand residents will soon be able to purchase packages to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Phase one of the individual ticket request process ends June 10th at 1pm, phase 2 will open in September 2015.
Like all Olympic Games, demand for tickets at the Rio Olympic Games will be high and ticket numbers are limited, particularly for events like track cycling and swimming.
New Zealand Olympic Committee CEO Kereyn Smith says she looks forward to seeing New Zealand supporters in the stadiums in Rio.
The magic of the Olympic Games is second-to-none and we know some lucky New Zealanders will have the experience of a life-time at the Rio Olympic Games, she said.
It is also a huge inspiration for athletes to have supporters from home right there, cheering them on.
New Zealanders should visit www.nzolympictravel.co.nz to register.
New Zealanders are urged to ensure they book accommodation early, as hotels are expected to be in high demand during the Rio Olympic Games. Initial allocations for individual tickets are by random ballot.
Any initially unsuccessful ticket requests will be prioritised in the second round of allocations later in 2015.
It is expected a Rio 2016 Friends and Family ticket programme will be announced by the games organisers in August.
New Zealand Olympic Travel is the official Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) for New Zealand.
Tickets sold through New Zealand Olympic Travel are for New Zealand residents only.
