As the excitement builds in Glasgow, New Zealand swimmer Milana Tapper says the focus is now firmly on competition as she prepares to take to the pool.
"It's now getting really exciting and switching into that competition mode," Tapper said.
The 200m freestyle swimmer says the team has formed a strong bond after spending time together in the lead-up to the Games.
"The swim team vibe has been pretty good so far. We've had a couple of training camps together coming into the Games, so we're feeling like one big team now."
One of the standout moments before arriving in Glasgow came during haka practice in Italy.
"We did a bit of haka practice before we left Italy, and a few people had their phones out. The kitchen staff at the hotel across the road would clap for us each time, which was quite nice. I don't think they'd seen a haka before."
After putting together some encouraging performances in training, Tapper is feeling quietly confident ahead of competition.
"Sometimes I've been doing in training have given me some confidence, so I'll see how I go."
