Biography

Tokyo 2020 will be Abby’s fourth Olympic Games.

Northland born and raised, Abby first started playing for Whangarei Rovers as a five-year-old. 

Abby is Aotearoa’s first footballer to play 100 ‘A’ internationals (male or female), and has played at four FIFA Women’s World Cups. One of the youngest players to reach 50 caps, the defender did so by the age of 21.

One of the NWSL’s most accomplished defenders, she has captained the North Carolina Courage since 2016 (known that year as New York Flash). Over the years, the side has established itself as one of the league’s most formidable teams, having won consecutive NWSL Shield and Championship doubles in 2018 and 2019. Abby was also named the 2018 NWSL defender of the year, and in the 2018 NWSL 1st XI.
