Celyn Edwards

Biography

Celyn has been swimming at the national level since 2015. His club is Selwyn Swim Club.
Currently, Celyn holds 23 national records, and throughout 2017 has posted a personal best time at every meet. Celyn made his international competition debut in July 2017 at the IDM Berlin Open (part of the World Para Swimming Event Series).
Celyn lost an arm in a car accident when he was five years old. He was back at his swimming lessons within six weeks of the event.
He first attended a Para Swimming Talent Identification Camp in Timaru in 2013.
Celyn has been inspired to take his Para Swimming as far as he can with the goal of one day representing New Zealand after meeting Paralympians Mary Fisher and Sophie Pascoe. Sophie visited her former Primary School that coincidentally Celyn was attending as a student at the time. Celyn has a strong “can do” attitude, and is a keen road cyclist, mountain biker, skier and rugby player.
Celyn currently attends Hillmorton High School in Christchurch.
