Jessie Hodges

New Zealand Olympian: 1435

Biography

EVENTS: Track Cycling: Women's Madison and Omnium

Hodges made her mark as a highly promising young netballer before she was sidelined with a serious injury. Her long road to recovery comprised many hours on a stationery trainer, which sparked an interest in cycling. After trying cycling both on the road and track, she was hooked and has made a spectacular rise in the sport, winning the national omnium title in 2020.

The Waikato local won four World Cup medals in her first full year of international competition, after an initial World Cup debut in 2017-2018. Hodges will compete in the two-rider Madison with Rushlee Buchanan, with the event re-introduced to the Olympic programme for Tokyo. She is a reserve for both the omnium and team pursuit.
