Biography

EVENT: Netball

Kate Heffernan was a member of the New Zealand Netball Team which won bronze over home favourites England at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Heffernan is a former White Ferns cricketer, now focussing all her time on netball the talented midcourter is continuing to leave an imprint after another impressive season with the Steel.

Making a successful switch to centre after largely playing wing defence for the Steel, Heffernan impressed enough during 2021 to earn selection in the Silver Ferns squad for the first time.

The midcourter made a seamless transition to the higher ranks after being called up as an injury replacement in 2018 and hasn't looked back. Standing at 1.81m, Heffernan is tall for a midcourter, her long reach and athletic ability proving a disruptive influence as she has gone on to become an accomplished performer across two midcourt positions.

She is the daughter of former Silver Fern Annette Heffernan.
