Biography

Kerri Williams (nee Gowler) is a triple Olympic medallist having won gold in the women's pair and silver in the eight at Tokyo 2020, as well as bronze in the women’s four at Paris 2024.

Williams and crewmate Grace Prendergast set the tone early in Tokyo, recording a world record to win their semi-final in 6m 47.41s. The following day they won New Zealand's first gold medal of the Tokyo Games in a time of 6m 50.19s. The next day Williams jumped in the eight to claim silver behind Canada.

In Paris, Williams joined Jackie Gowler, Phoebe Spoors and Kerri Williams in the boat with the athletes doing well to hold on for a bronze medal in a competitive final.

The gold went to the Netherlands in 6min 27.13s, followed by Great Britain. New Zealand recorded 6min 29.08s just ahead of Romania for the final medal spot.

Williams also competed at Rio 2016, finishing fourth in the Women's Eight.

In 2014, she broke both the Under-23 Pair and the elite Women's Four records in the same season. Williams is also a two-time World Champion, winning gold at the 2019 World Championships in both the pair and the eight.
