Biography

Mary was born in Darfield, Canterbury and played her local hockey at the Burnside Ladies Hockey club.

Selected for both Los Angeles 1984 and again in 1992 Barcelona for the Olympic games. She became the first women to reach 100 caps for New Zealand.

Mary (now Deakins) continued her involvement in hockey and as recognition there is now a Mary Clinton Cup awarded at the New Zealand Secondary School Hockey tournament.
