Biography

Central Otago rider Nicole Shields was part of the silver medal-winning team pursuit squad at Paris, alongside Ally Wollaston, Bryony Botha, and Emily Shearman. The New Zealand women’s team led for most of the event but finished second in the final against the USA, clocking in at 4min 04.927s, just behind the USA's 4min 04.306s.

Initially focused on road cycling, Shields transitioned to track cycling after joining a training group at the Southland Velodrome. This shift led to her winning medals in the Team Pursuit at the junior World Championships in 2016 (Aigle) and 2017 (Montichiari).

Nciole also ventured into professional road cycling, racing for DNA Pro Cycling from 2020 to 2022, but returned to the national program with success in the Team Pursuit at the 2024 Nations Cup.
