Stephen Cox started cycling at the age of 12 years old with his first club being Stratford Athletic and Cycling Club. He went on to have an outstanding career in Road Cycling with three Commonwealth Games campaigns claiming a bronze medal and also attending the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
Juggling work and training, Stephen had a number of different jobs that ld to him becoming the owner of a Four Square in 1984.
His most memorable moment is his selection for the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games after having been part of the unfortunate Moscow 1980 boycott.
Stephen encourages youth to participate in sport as you learn so much about yourself. He says it is up to you, hard work, no pain no gain but just don’t give up!
Retiring from international racing, Stephen then gave his time to the New Zealand cycling team and taking the role of Manager at the Kuala Lumpur 2010 Commonwealth Games.
