Biography

Snowboarder Zoi Sadowski-Synnott is New Zealand’s most successful ever winter Olympian with a gold, silver and bronze medal to her name.

The Wanaka local created history at Beijing 2022, winning New Zealand’s first ever Winter Olympic gold medal. Competing in Snowboard Slopestyle, Sadowski-Synnott landed a hugely technical rail line and laced together a frontside double 1080 into a backside double 1080 on the final two jumps for an emphatic victory.

Ten days later Sadowksi-Synnott claimed her second medal of the Games, winning silver in an epic Big Air final. The medal wins in Beijing followed her success at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic Games where she won bronze in the Big Air.

Outside of her Olympic success Sadowski-Synnott became the first snowboarder ever to defend a Slopestyle World Championship title in March 2021, also winning the silver medal at the 2021 Big Air World Championships. She took the win at the FIS Snowboard World Cup Big Air in Kreischberg 2020, 2nd place at the FIS Snowboard World Cup Slopestyle in Laax 2021 and claimed two 2021 Winter X Games medals - silver in snowboard slopestyle and bronze in snowboard big air.

Sadowski-Synnott is coached by Snow Sports NZ High Performance Snowboard Coach Sean Thompson.
