Courtney McGregor and Misha Koudinov are headline selections to the New Zealand Team for Glasgow 2026.

McGregor returns to the international stage after five years away from competition, having previously represented the New Zealand Team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Her selection also marks a return to Glasgow, where she had been set to compete in 2014 before withdrawing through injury.

Koudinov will compete in his sixth Commonwealth Games, bringing nearly two decades of international experience. He competed in his first Games at Melbourne 2006 aged 14 years and 8 months and will join just two other New Zealand athletes to have competed at six Commonwealth Games - Robin Tait (Athletics) and Rowan Brassey (Lawn Bowls).

Greg Yelavich (Shooting) remains the New Zealand Team’s most decorated Commonwealth Games athlete with seven Games appearances.

William Fu-Allen will compete in his second Commonwealth Games after attending Birmingham 2022.

Fu-Allen is the current back-to-back New Zealand All-Around champion and recorded a top-24 finish in the Floor at the 2025 World Championships. While Daniel Stoddart and Alex Istock both come into the Games off strong recent international results, including notable Oceania Championships performances.

Jun McDonald and Sienna Shields are set to make their Commonwealth Games debuts at Glasgow 2026.

McDonald placed third in the All-Around at the 2026 Oceania Championships, while Shields has proven herself internationally at World Cup level after making a rapid rise through New Zealand’s senior ranks.

Head of Gymnastics David Phillips said the group reflects the depth and progression within the Gymnastics New Zealand programme.

“We’ve selected a team who compete across multiple apparatus and formats and we’re excited to see them perform in Glasgow,” said Phillips.

“There’s a strong balance of experience and new talent, athletes who know and understand the Games environment and importantly, athletes who’ve shown they can deliver under pressure in international competitions,” he said.

NZOC CEO, Nicki Nicol welcomed the gymnasts to the New Zealand Team.

“I want to congratulate you all on today’s selection,” said Nicol.

“Selection to the New Zealand Team is a significant achievement. Wearing the fern represents the hard work these athletes have put in and is a moment to cherish with whānau and friends,” she said.
