New Zealand Olympian: 1314
Rio 2016 was Courtney's first Olympic Games appearance. Courtney has been competing internationally since 2012, racking up an historic vault final in 2014 in Doha, followed up by a silver medal at the Pacific Rim Championships later that year. She has continued to climb up the world rankings and finished 17th in her vault specialty at the 2015 World Championships.
Courtney recognised her Olympic dream at primary school and further committed to it in 2013 when she pulled out of school. She completed her studies via correspondence in order to fully commit to the demands of training for international competition.
In May 2016, Courtney moved to the US to commence a four-year scholarship with the Boise State Broncos.
Born in Canterbury, Courtney trains at the Christchurch School of Gymnastics under the direction of US-based Mary Wright, who has coached multiple US athletes to Olympic success.
When Courtney is not training, she likes to hang out with friends and just relax.
