Rowing rejig explained

The rowing was put on hold again today with strong winds ruling out racing for the second time this week.

New Zealand had five crews due to race today including four shooting for finals slots.

The men’s and women’s eights were to race their repechages and there were semi-finals scheduled for the lightweight women’s double sculls and women’s pair.

Rowing officials said they felt they could still condense the remaining programme and complete racing on time on Saturday.

If the adverse weather persists - and the forecast is not great for tomorrow morning - options include shortened courses, racing in the afternoon, dropping some B and C races and stretching the finals into Sunday.
