Women's relay team misses out
New Zealand's womens 4 x 100m freestyle relay team could make little impression on the favourites in the Olympic pool today. The New Zealand team of Tash Hind, Penelope Marshall, Amaka Gessler and Hayley Palmer managed just seventh in their heat, with a time of 3min 42.55s. This placed them 14th overall, well behind the fastest qualifiers, Australia, who recorded 3min 36.34s. Palmer was the quickest of the New Zealanders, coming home in 55.03s. All four swimmers beat 56 seconds.
